Great New Additions to Jack Brooks Park
The Golden Gate
(large bridge in the center of the trails
crossing
the bayou) has finally been raised, thanks to Booker and several of the
trails members.
This is your
race money at work! The proceeds of the Renegade Race funded this project
and made it possible to finally get the Golden Gate off the ground and in
place permanently.
You can also look at the new Teeter Totter that Booker has in place as a
water crossing in the New section before the Brick Yard.
Just as a reminder, a lot of work has been placed in the trails at Jack
Brooks Park. Many hours and funds have improved your trails to the level
they are now. TOO many people have been
irresponsible
and not respected the work and trails. There are numerous places
that were corrected that now are back to the original mess because people
ride when it is TOO WET! If it is TOO WET, do not ride the trails and
destroy the work that has been done.
This isn't a problem only at Jack Brooks, but at the other trails in
Houston as well. I hear many complaints about the "Authorities" blocking
new trails and Mountain Biking and the reason is: FAILURE TO RESPECT THE
TRAILS WHEN THEY SHOULD NOT BE RIDDEN!
Blame yourself...
I love riding trails as much as the next person, but when they are too
wet, you do nothing but ruin the trails and your bike. Use some common
sense and find another place to ride until they dry. You are only
preserving your right to ride on the Jack Brooks (and other systems) when
you do this. Coby James
