  1. Some answers to FAQs.

the course is fairly easy single-track – there are no technical features like jumps or obstacles. But it is nice singletrack and if you race, it actually can be harder than “technical” courses because there is no let-up from pedaling! If its your first race, just pedal as hard as you find comfortable.

    - there is a Beginner Racer’s clinic Saturdays before every TMBRA race. This is not a skills clinic, it is a short course to give you the basics of racing rules and etiquette.

This course does not demand any high degree of skill. However, I do recommend you go and pre-ride the course before the race, just to get a feel for it. In any case, it doesn’t matter if you are Cat 1 or Cat 3, you only go as fast as your skills will allow, even the Experts get off and walk sometimes!

  2. Is the distance posted accurate? Only 9 miles for Cat 3 and 17 miles for Cat 2? What happened to 2 laps for Cat 3 and 3 laps for Cat 2?

  3. We’ve corrected the distances listed on bikereg.

Each lap is 8.3 miles so as in prior years, most of Cat 1 will do 4 laps, all of Cat 2 will do 3 laps, and Cat 3 will do 2 laps.

As for the 12&unders and 10&unders, we are making improvements to their course so their race will be shorter than in prior years. Their distances will be updated soon.

  4. How much of the trail and for how long will the short track race on Saturday be fouling up?

  5. The # of racers at Double Lake will impact the time that we finish and open the course for pre-riding. We will limit the field to 90. At Flintridge where the last race finished at 1, we were limited to only 3 racers per heat because of the course. Both Jack Brooks and Double Lake will have a limit of 6 so we will go much faster in both of these venues.

We learned some things during the first two races so Raf is hoping they will keep getting better as we go on.

  6. So how much of the trail will be fouled up during the short track? Or were you implying that it will be the whole thing?

  7. I will be visiting Houston from the Uk and would like to race on the Sunday. I have a UK license. Do I need a US (1 day) license? Can I enter on the day or do I need to pre-enter.
    Thx
