"Armadillo" Wednesday Night Rides

This ride is geared for intermediate to advanced riders with trail headlights. We won’t ride if it’s raining. If group size warrants it, we’ll have a fast group and a not so fast group.

If it’s NOT raining and the trails are muddy (irrespective of what the signs may say), we may do an urban ride. Always check the GHORBA calendar if the trail conditions are vague.

The meeting point is the Memorial Park soccer/rugby field parking lot

  • Be ready to ride at 6:30 PM. You’re welcome to warmup if you show up early.
  • Don’t even think about riding without a helmet!

  1. I am new to night riding and am very interested in joining the Armadillo night ride on Wednesdays.
Need advise on lighting system for my bike.

Lots of options? What do most people use? What’s recommended?

  2. It depends on how much riding at night you’ll do and how much you want to spend. If you’ll ride a lot, HID is worth it. On this ride, most use HID on their helmets with Light&Motion ARC being the most popular. MTBR.com has a comprehensive test of HID, halogen and some LED systems, but read the user reviews too before shelling out the bucks.

  4. We’re kind of in a holding mode. MP has been pretty beat up with riders going on wet trails, and more rain is predicted for tomorrow. Come to our meeting tomorrow night so we can gauge some interest in an urban ride Wednesday if the trails are too wet.
