GHORBA-Girls at Warda 12 hours of Dirt!

Wow!

When signing up for the GHORBA Ride Like a Girl group recently I noticed some talk about getting a team together for the 12 Hours of Dirt at Warda. Before I knew it I had hit send and committed myself to competing with two expert women and a beginner. We called ourselves GHORBA Girls. The race started out at 7am with our first teamate doing a short run and hopping on her bike for a 9 mile lap. The weather was so cold our water bottles were icy. We had a support crew that kept a fire going at camp and prepared food for us as well as fixing any mechanical problems that we had. We soon got ahead of the very competetive Team Orthopedic girls teams and were able to relax and enjoy the rest of the race. The race finished up at 7pm with our last rider going out with lights and completing our 14th lap. We won the race with 14 laps and received gift certificates, jerseys and a nice placque. It was great to be out racing again and especially winning.

  1. What a great endurance course the fine folks at Bluff Creek Ranch have kept alive, and a special thanks to Terra Firma Promotions for keeping the Dirty Dozen alive and kicking as well. I was afraid that the shortening of the course was going to result in a super monotonous, mind numbing race. I was very happily surprised at the reroutes and additions that have been made to keep the trails open to racing and for everyones enjoyment. If you haven’t been to BCR since the completion of all the improvements, do yourself a favor and go get some.
