Format

Time Qualifier

Course 1.5 – 2 miles

Each racer will first participate in a qualifier to establish the category they will race in (Cat1, Cat2, or Cat3). There will be time standards for all the categories. If you fall within those standard times, then you will race in that category. There is no age division except for the youth 14-18 class. You could be 50 and end up competing with a 20 year old if your time is fast/slow enough to fall into one of those categories. DO NOT SANDBAG DURING THE QUALIFIER; IT WILL COST YOU YOUR PLACE IN THE PODIUM. WE WILL BE CHECKING!

Short Track Races

Course 3.5 – 5 miles

  • You will be put into a group of 2 to 6 racers, depending on the amount of participants. You will race within your category only.
  • Your race number will be placed in a drawing to establish the groups for HEAT 1.
  • The 1st and 2nd place finishers of each group—if there are more than 3 racers in a group; otherwise only the top finisher, will advance to HEAT 2. Then we will draw again to establish the groups for HEAT 2.
  • The same process will take place until all participants of that category have raced, at which time we will have the podium winners for that category, and run the remaining categories.

These races are going to be very fast and conceivably a podium finisher could log more that 20 miles for the day. So, you better be in shape!!

Our first race in Cypresswood is sponsored by David’s Cycles. So if you are in the FM1960 area, stop by and tell David thanks for sponsoring this first race in the City Short Track Stampede Championship Series!

  9. How many racers have signed up so far?

    By: Dave

  10. Yes. Here is why. The qualifying run is about 1.5 to 2 miles the Heats are 3.5 to 5 miles in similar terrain, if a person logs a faster miles per hrs in the shorter track (take away any accident or mechanical problems). Doesn’t stand to reason he/she was sandbagging?
