National Trails Day - Saturday June 5 - Help on a trail or take your kid biking

National Trails Day is promoted by the American Hiking Society. They may be hikers, but they’ve done an outstanding job in promoting trails which we cyclists can also use, so we are proud to be a supporter of this annual event.

Here’s a list of trails around town where GHORBA members and friends are showing up to do the work and, in many cases, ride afterwards:

Double Lake – 9 AM at the new trail.

See the calendar for map to the meeting point. Contact ryan@sstrails.com 713-446-6610. Please bring hydration and food and wear good shoes – long sleeved/legged clothing is better too. No major tools are required – you’ll be helping clear the machine cut trail corridor, but clippers and rakes will be useful if you have them.

Take a Kid Biking Day at Timber Lane, 9 to 3

Our newest GHORBA Director – Bill Rustam – will be there with his daughter to help and he’d really like to see a few other group members. If you have kids of your own, bring them along. This is also a great opportunity to catch up with the Parks Director Bud Gessel and see all the new projects he has going. If you look on the map, you will see that he is now almost connected up to Hardy Toll Road and this will connect into County owned land between Hardy and I-45. Bud really has set a standard to which other advocates aspire in expansion of parks and trails. So, we hope that some of you can make it out there on Saturday. Detailed directions on the calendar
