All Trails Will Need Major Work

GHORBA hopes you made it through this storm and are safe and sound.

All trails in the Houston area and beyond are closed until further notice. We are working with the land managers to assess the damage and are creating plans for work parties to clear the obstacles.

We have received many inquiries to help and will not turn anyone away. One thing we would like you to do is not enter the trails if the land managers closed them for safety reasons. Many of our trails have power lines running through them, and trees may have fallen on them.

Memorial Park trails are closed to all users. Huntsville State Park is also closed and this weekend’s race has been postponed.

  1. The Triangle Trail (by the railroad tracks) Saturday a few friends and I took it upon ourselves to work on this trail. We started by the RR tracks and went way beyond the Tunnels. We cleaned maybe 1/2 of it up but there will need to be some serious trees cut out of they way… this is why I write. Anybody with a chainsaw???? I’m sure you will really like the effort we put into it. It’s looking nice. :) Call me and I’ll come out to help 713-385-7303

  2. I think you left the same message on the TMBRA forum too. Thanks so much for getting out there and working on the trail. We have to leave it to HPARD to use the chainsaws – we’re not allowed to use any power tools in the park. But don’t worry, Jay the Park Manager is getting to it as fast as he’s able to get the big downed trees clear – he hopes to have most of the trails rideable by mid-week.
