Looking for Something to Do? Work Party at Memorial Park this Saturday
9:00 AM – 2:00 PM Saturday
Please bring gloves and rakes
Join Houston Parks & Recreation Department, Memorial Park Conservancy, Greater Houston Offroad Biking Association and other local volunteers for a WORK PARTY THIS SATURDAY, from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., at the Picnic Loop Lane. Meet at the Doggie Wash. Please wear appropriate work clothes and closed-toe shoes. Bring work gloves to help collect and carry brush and debris along Picnic Loop to roadside for easier HPARD pickup.
The work to be done for the recovery of the park is massive and will take time. We must work with the Parks Dept in a phased effort to open up the park to all users from front to back. The removal of brush from the Picnic Loop is the first step in that process.
The trails themselves are an even bigger project and will also take the cooperation of all user groups in the very near future. But for now the first thing we’ve agreed to help out with is the debris removal from within the picnic loop.
Please come out and help this weekend to show our commitment and dedication to the park…thanks
Any questions can be posted to the GHORBA forum
Everyone volunteering at the work party can gather their Paydirt points for the 2008-2009 season. Even if you don’t race, you can qualify for some sweet prizes at the end of the racing season.
